Flood 08 part 2

I know the quality isn't good but I didn't have Becky's camera. This shows where the water was until the levee's broke north of Quincy. If you look close on the telephone poles you can see that the water was more than a foot higher before the breaks.

This one you can kinda see the ripples made by the hexagon fountian that is now submerged (see previous posts to see the fountian)

Anne has asked how Quincy is: The good thing is that the downtown part of Quincy is on a bluff, or approx 100 feet above the river's normal level. Our youth warehouse is on 3rd street (3 blocks east of the river) If it flooded then everything west till Colorado would be a lake. The bad thing is that people live, farm, and have river camps (homes on the river banks that either they live full time or are summer homes) that are flooding or you can't get to them. Some business have been building sandbag walls, moving stuff out.

the good thing is that the water drops when levee's break....of course that is bad for where they break.

Flood 08

They Closed the bridge Sunday AM and this is the scene now 06.16.08 10.45 AM.

Took this yesterday at noon. Normally the White fence is where the Mississippi stops and is is about 5 feet down. The tricky thing is the building in the upper right (right on the river) is the water intake plant & if that goes then there goes the water for the entire city.

I will try to keep the pictures coming.

Pull the plug....or blow up the satellite

Becky & I have been flirting with the idea of cancelling Dish Network & going with the HD antenna + converter box = 11 channels (I think.) I say flirting because I am toying with the idea but in the back of my mind I don't really want to commit to this. Reasons Why:

1. I am addicted to the DVR. The concept of pausing & rewinding Live TV. I don't cuddle or dress up my DVR.

2. I have convinced Dish Network that I live in St. Louis in order to watch the Cardinals & not the Cubs. It just so happens that they also show more Ohio State Football games. If i got the ABC out of Missouri then I would have to watch Texas or Mizzou.

3. I don't want to delete or worse off have to go & buy High School Musical. Brooke thinks she is Gabriellia.

4. Four letters ESPN

5. No more crying when Maury Povich says "You are the Father"

6. I am addicted to the DVR nothing like hitting the pause button to go to the bathroom. Something about the time constraints of a commercial break.

What are your thoughts???

Point A to Point B

The fastest way between two points isn't a straight line....it's when you speed up the video. Here you see us driving from the old church (a blur at the beginning of the video) to the new Church.
